Sabrina Kanner, Sr. V.P. for Design and Construction at Brookfield Office Properties, has played a key role in opening up the lower levels of Brookfield Place to the community of residents, workers and tourists in Lower Manhattan. After 9/11 she was instrumental in the rebuild of the neighborhood’s beloved Winter Garden.

Jia Dee Li, the World Trade Center Sustainability Manager for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, has a degree in engineering, but has worked on both real estate and engineering issues in the rebuilding of the World Trade Center. Her office was on the 74th floor of the North Tower, and she is proud to be part of the team creating the new World Trade Center.

Catherine McVay Hughes, former Chair of Manhattan Community Board 1, served Lower Manhattan for over 25 years. She has worked with diverse community and labor groups, elected officials and governmental agencies at City, State and Federal levels: to advocate passage of the James Zadroga Act to include healthcare and cancer coverage for residents, workers and students, and to expand the Victim’s Compensation Fund Boundary to Canal Street; and to work for many years with the LMCCC and NYC agencies as an advocate for construction safety and mitigation.

Marie Sullivan, an Operating Engineer with Local 15, worked on the re-routing of 9A between the World Trade Center and Brookfield Place. She also worked on NYC icons including Yankee Stadium and JFK Airport. Marie, who was in the military prior to entering the trades, is an instructor at Local 15’s Apprenticeship program.

Ambra Melendez, an ironworker with Local 361, welded steel on the foundations of the Calatrava Transportation Hub, and towers 1, 2 and 3 World Trade Center. Ambra has an interest in architecture, and before becoming an ironworker, she worked as a concrete and steel inspector on high rise buildings.
