For the 11th consecutive year, Duquesne University\u2019s Department of Journalism and Multimedia Arts<\/a>, headed by Chairman Dr. Michael J. Dillon<\/strong>, has provided us with outstanding summer interns in Graduate Julie Pawlikowski<\/strong> and Undergrad Lauren Zawatski<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Julie Pawlikowski received her Bachelor\u2019s degree in Journalism at Duquesne University and is currently pursuing her Media Management Master\u2019s degree in the Media Arts & Technology graduate program. She hopes to travel the world as a reporter and writer before working at a publishing house.<\/p>\n

While interning at the Museum Julie played an integral role of the Museum\u2019s grand opening. She also transcribed much of the Museum\u2019s exhibit texts for our curatorial department. Interviewing visitors about their experiences at the Museum and on tours was Julie\u2019s favorite task, as well as researching and creating content for this very blog.<\/p>\n[mk_blockquote style=”quote-style” font_family=”none” text_size=”12″ align=”left”]\u201cInterning here was about more than boosting my resume. The opportunities, experiences, and knowledge I gained here will benefit me in my life overall and I am so incredibly thankful Duquesne University and the Museum has this partnership. I\u2019ve gained valuable skills, met amazing people, and heard stories that will stay with me forever. To love a group of people and building as much as I do in such a short time is a testament to how amazing this Museum and Association are and I am eternally grateful.\u201d – Julie Pawlikowski<\/b>[\/mk_blockquote]\n <\/p>\n

Lauren Zawatski is a senior Multiplatform Journalism major and French minor at Duquesne University. She will graduate with her undergraduate degree in December. Her specific focus is photography and videography, and she hopes to continue to tell stories through photo and video after graduation, perhaps with her own lifestyle photography business.<\/p>\n

During her time at Tribute, one of her main projects was documenting every exhibit and artifact in the new museum space through photography. She also assisted with photography for our new website, and photographed and took part in interviewing visitors of the new space to hear their feedback.<\/p>\n[mk_blockquote style=”quote-style” font_family=”none” text_size=”12″ align=”left”]”This has been an experience that has truly changed both my life and my perspective. The work that I’ve gotten to do is some of the most meaningful that I’ve ever done, especially since I’ve had the privilege of getting to know some of the incredible, heartbreaking and beautiful stories of the amazing people involved at Tribute and affected by 9\/11. It genuinely is a family here, and I am forever grateful to Duquesne and everyone at the Tribute Museum to have so graciously given me the privilege of becoming a member of that family.” – Lauren Zawatski<\/b>[\/mk_blockquote]\n <\/p>\n
