We’re sharing a number of poems that we found quite special.\u00a0Recently, a young visitor from the UK left us a poem on a visitor card that we felt moved by:[\/vc_column_text][mk_blockquote style=”line-style” font_family=”none” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”20″]Sirens roared everywhere, dust invaded the sky,
\nSteel bent and glass shattered, two goliaths started to die.
\nA sea of colors charged into the chaos, minute in scale to the deepening ocean of sound,
\nThe skeletons of metal mammoths laying in filthy piles, scarring the hardened concrete ground.
\nBy the examples of such heroes we follow, their courage shining over the darkness of terror, of which their actions we forever talk;
\nWhat was meant to break it only strengthened \u2013 the great city of New York!<\/p>\n

They will be visiting the 9\/11 Tribute Museum soon and their teacher encouraged the students to write about the difference they can make through music in the world.[\/vc_column_text][mk_blockquote style=”line-style” font_family=”none” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”20″]Music, where should I begin? I met you when I was young,
\nYou helped me through tough times, You healed my wounds
\nYou solve conflict.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My friends met me through music.
\nIf I didn\u2019t have music, I wouldn\u2019t have them.
\nIf I didn\u2019t know them, I would not be here with all of you today.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The world runs on music.
\nYou connect us, you bind us, and you make us feel welcome.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I met you in school, I was called a fool,
\nAnd you helped me get through it. Your presence brings joy,
\nKids play you from a toy,
\nAnd your tune makes me tap my foot a bit.<\/p>\n

My soul is the life with which The world lives
\nAnd my mind is the force of its will<\/p>\n

For I have seen peace
\nAnd I have blessed it with my silvery voice A thousand songs of love and fortune<\/p>\n

I have been burdened, Scarred by Earth\u2019s hardships Forced to obey a warning call
\nOf songs signaling destruction and hate<\/p>\n

I may bend
\nAs the willow does
\nTo the song of the wind
\nOr the rhythm of a heartbeat \u2028But I am as old
\nAs unmoving
\nAs a mountain
\nThrusting itself above the plentiful earth
\nTo pierce the endless sky above<\/p>\n

For I am what defines you
\nWhat defines time
\nAnd love
\nLife
\nAnd death
\nFor I am music<\/p>\n

\nIt\u2019s something that everyone treasures, Even the birds.
\nEven the whales
\nEven animals know how important it is. They sing,
\nAnd so do we.<\/p>\n
