{"id":2584,"date":"2020-02-26T16:53:26","date_gmt":"2020-02-26T21:53:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/911tributemuseum.org\/?p=2584"},"modified":"2021-08-19T11:41:01","modified_gmt":"2021-08-19T15:41:01","slug":"2020-teacher-awards-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/911tributemuseum.org\/2020-teacher-awards-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"2020 Teacher Awards Winners"},"content":{"rendered":"[vc_row][vc_column][mk_fancy_title color=&#8221;#828282&#8243; size=&#8221;24&#8243; font_weight=&#8221;bold&#8221; txt_transform=&#8221;uppercase&#8221; font_family=&#8221;none&#8221;]The <strong>9\/11 Tribute Museum<\/strong> is proud to announce the winners of its <strong>13th annual Teacher Awards<\/strong>, which are given to teachers from across the country for the innovative and effective ways they have found to teach the challenging subject of the terrorist attacks of 9\/11 to students.[\/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1582753106989{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}&#8221;]Children in schools today were not alive in 2001 and the attacks to them are ancient history. Because the attacks affected our world so drastically, it is more important than ever that young people understand the impact that terrorism creates.<\/p>\n<p>Teacher Awards winners work in elementary, middle school, and high school classrooms, teaching a variety of subjects. They find age-appropriate resources and develop projects that allow students to grasp the enormity of the attacks, understand the depth of loss, and the courage of those who responded to the attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Award winners often use primary sources in their lessons, which complements the 9\/11 Tribute Museum\u2019s mission of person to person history. The teachers also show the value of compassion and community service to inspire their pupils to become good citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Each winning school receives a cash award contributed by 9\/11 family foundations who support the 9\/11 Tribute Museum\u2019s educational outreach. The foundations are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Brooke Jackman Foundation<\/li>\n<li>Christopher Slattery 9\/11 Memorial Foundation<\/li>\n<li>Greg Richards, Larry Polatsch, Scott Weingard (GLS) Memorial Fund<\/li>\n<li>Terence D.
